    1- OOF, badly
3- really nothing to look at
    7- not badd
21- best of the bunch I think

I think you need to really work on your composition.

fucking just lost everything I was typiing!!!!!

1 - 5 = boring, #1 is really bad being so OOF, its not even worthing of C&C imo
6 = Would be more interesting with a child sliding down the slide with a smile of gleeeeee
    7= oof
    8 + 9 = knot interesting, and typical snapshot.
10 = :jb: lol actually would look better if you get the owl and tire out of the shot and make it more mysterious looking, a tighter crop.
    11, 12, 13 = fuckin' yawn.... anchors are boring
    14. crop tighter get the junk on either side of the bank cropped out, my eyes go to that, not to the duck
    15. 16, 17, 18 = yawn booooring.
    19.. eh, recompose
    20... eh, recompose.
    21. Would be AWESOME if you had focused on the girl, in her pose, the little boy looks like a typical little boy that wants to cause hell, but the girl she's being all quiet and serene looking which is what i think with a lake, etc.... and mysterious looking

looks like youre learning, and thats always fun in itself. a tool that might help you when youre spending time on a picture (i noticed you took a shot of the anchor from a few different angles) is to ask yourself "why am i taking this picture?" or "what makes this an interesting picture?".

if you find the answer being "because it looks artsy", i wouldn't bother taking it unless youre just playing with camera functions.

    That's what i'm working on.

Thanks... i'll keep what you said in mind, though i doubt i'll have a chance to shoot in the same location again, but it's still tips that'll come in handy in general.

Almost... Kit lens, + 75-300mm (reason the mallard was so badly focused, it was a long shot, and i was having difficulty holding it steady to focus right). after 240 shots, these few were the best of the bunch, and was just looking at areas to improve. Obviously composition is a weak point.

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.

Thanks all... i hope the next batch are better :bigthumb:

    Me too.

I dont mean that in a negative way either, I like to see how we all improve.

(*)(*)'s doesn't improve, he makes all of us degrade.

:nono: he doesn't make us degrade, only feel inadequate. But looking at his stuff can give a guy like me a lot of help in just seeing how to compose an image...

did what i could in pp as far as your suggestions went.... this is just about the only one that PP alone could fix. What do you think?

Can you un-center her any further, if so i think you got a better one out of that one alone.

If you cant do it in your PP program, select the left 1/3 of the photograph, copy, expand canvas size, past, blend.

It is better wthout the owl and tire but its still missing something and I cant place what :o

I can go back to the raw, and uncrop it... there's about 15' (scale) of image to her left and right., though there was a second potential subject at that end that i cropped out... i'll go back and re-work it.

the last shot you posted has much more potential, but it needs to be framed to the rule of 3rds to make it stand out. The expression on the mother looking into the water is very catching. You should've shot wider and cropped later...I'm left wondering what is in her hand...is she just touching the water or what??

also theres a bit too much noise in the shot.

Never mind the pose. I'm just looking for composition at this point. My daughter's a bit camera shy, and noticed me shooting between the last one, and this one. The first was almost pure camera (some levels and contrast adjustments,) this one took quite a bit more PP.

I like the noise with his colors of the PP, makes it look as though it is a development error or faded film photo.

Though I agree on the rest. Love it lots, except her missing hand.

What are you using for processing Socio?

cs3, but i'm a bit of a newb to that as well, so i'm learning a little bit here and there as i go along. Sometimes it works well, and others, not so much.

if you're shooting raw, "acquire" lightroom and learn that.

Although CS3 does raw, LR seems to have a bit more fine tuning capabilities that may help you out more.

Perhaps... but i'm going to focus on catching it on camera, rather than trying to fake it on my comp. :hs:
