something ive noticed about cheat days

    after a cheat day, not just a cheat meal, but a day when i really dont care about my food. the next morning i always look alot leaner. could this just be a psychological thing? i.e. i look alot more bloated from cheating the night before and the next day im leaner by comparrison or is it something else?

    ive been undereating for the past 2 years trying to recomp from a lifelong fatty to a lean muscular physique. i have taken a month off twice and ate at maint. during that time but its mostly below maint.

    my metabolism is lightning fast.. but if i stop doing physical activity it slows down to snail pace

    i feel the same way
    i also get a really bad taste in my mouth and my stomach feels HORRENDOUS.

    Yesterday i ate real clean until about 1230am and had a crunchwrap,taco,2 grilled sstuffed burritos

    i HATE it when i wake up :wtc:

    Well, if you're underfeading your body then when you cheat, your muscles probably suck it all up along with some subcutanious water and you look leaner and fuller.

    just theorizing here, but from what i've read, one of the key things that needs to be present in your body to metabolize fat is lepsin (sp?), I dont know if its a hormone or molecule or what, but it's only present in fat, so you basically have to consume fat to burn it, really low fat diets deprive the body of lepsin and thus make it more difficult to burn fat...I think this is why the whole cheat day came to be, to once a week provide the body with a enough of a fat and caloric surplus to ensure that the right ingredients are present to make sure the body will continue to burn fat

    remember, the body is a survival machine, if you are really depriving it of cals and fat it will do all it can to maintain what it has, so by having cheats days you turn off the evolutionary mechanism, thus enabling you to keep making progress

    this could be all bullshit though, just putting the pieces together in my head

    when I first started trying to lean out I wasn't that strict about refeed days.. not very structured like the rest of my days. the next day I would always feel bloated and fat and shit.

    once I took the time to set up some sort of structure for my refeed days (spreading my carbs out through the day rather than eating a ton of carbs in just a few meals).. i started to notice that the next day I always felt leaner and more full.

    prob a psychological thing. i don't know.

    Increased insulin sensitivity + carbs = fuller muscle due to glycogen being replenished. I have the impression that I'm talking about glycogen all the time but it's pretty essential when we're talking about lifting and bodybuilding.

    Same thing happens to me. I feel a bit guilty while eating the cheat meal, but I wake up the next morning, and I'll be damned if my overall physique doesn't look leaner.

    i drink water while im out drinking and i still feel dehydrated in the morning, my abs always look cut after a night on the piss

    After a weekend of binge drinking, or eating terrible... I always look leaner on Sunday.
