    Is this true?

I know a lot of huge guys that look really cut who do cardio after lifting and they look just fine.

Is there any truth to this?

Also does swimming have any negative effects on lifting?

correct me if i'm wrong, but cardio is just burning the energy that would normally be going toward building muscle. plus the thing about anabolism/catabolism that i don't really know much about.

I've heard the same as well. IIRC, cardio makes your body produce more cortisol, which inhibits muslce growth. I also heard that you can become catabolic and start to break down muscle for energy during extended periods of cardio.

not like the standard 20 minutes on the treadmill is going to cut into your muscle gains regardless.

Cardio after lifting is fine. If anything it will help with muscle growth and new development of mitochondria cells.

Well... being lean in itself also inhibits optimum muscle gains.

    Just matters what you want.

(not showing off at all b/c im still very not broly, just making a point)

im a decent cardio person... i do cardio on day1 (biceps, chest, abs) and day3 (triceps, shoulders, back) and NOT on day2 (legs... cant do cardio after squat day) or day4 (rest). keeps your body fat level. i usually burn around 400cal per session.

as far as muscle, i used to bench 160 and didnt squat. few months later i bench 225 and am getting much better at squatting. just make sure youre getting enough calories and youll be fine.
