from vertical scope, they own http://www.autoforums.com/

How do I go about getting a fair price and make sure I don't end up getting ripped off?

I think posting your site first would give us a bit more insight into your question.

you need to get them into a bidding war with Internet Brands(they also buy up a lot of car forums)

    Ok here are some stats:

    Demographic: Automotive forum (Honda)

    From March 1 - March 23
    10140 Unique Visitors
    35,094 Visits
    1,485,932 Pages

Current adsense revenue: $705.00 for march, so far.

He told me to make him an offer but I have no idea where to start....if anyone can help me out i'd appreciate it. If you really need the site URL PM me.

Dnscoop had the value at $30,000 a few months ago but for some reason it dropped to $5,000 recently. There has been a decrease in pages but not visitors. I am assuming thats because this is the slower time for automotive forums. (dnscoop also says offtopic is worth 30k right now, which its clearly worth much more)

Not bad for a forum, I think. :dunno: Probably could be a lot more simplistic.

that's pretty good adsense earnings for a forum. why not just keep it? Oh and have them offer, don't give them a price

Thats what I did. I told them I am in no fiscal need to sell my forum to them. I was talking on another admin board and someone said they paid a forum around my size $35k and pay the admin $400/month to continue to run it. I would be down for that

And if I don't get an offer over 15-20k I am going to keep it. I know these guys will spam ads and shit all over my forum and to me, if I cant pay for grad school with the money then I am not going to sell out everyone. They trust me and I have met MANY of the active members in person.

    Really?

I figured they were low-balling expecting me to counter and then we meet halfway around 22-23k :dunno:

Keep in mind my google adsense rev for this month is $865.00

Yeah, I think it is. But play their game and try to get more out of it, especially since you have some leeway.

This plus try to get some kind of admin pay to continue building the site like you said. Many of the bigger site aggregaters prefer that. They just want the traffic to add to their network inventory but not always the mess of actually managing and keeping a community alive.

If they are like that you could end up with a nice payout, a monthly payment and maybe even milestone bonuses for building it up even more :wiggle:
