I go to the gym at Eglin AFB and there is a guy who I see every so often that has less than half a foot. While entering and exiting the gym he wears a prosthetic (sp?) but, while he works out he wears this little booty thing. I have watched him do everything from dead lifts to squats for legs and all the major upperbody execises. Every time I see him he is busting his ass and working harder than most others in there. I have never spoken to him and I can't recall seeing anyone else do so either. Though, he does seem extremely focused when there. I have considered letting him know that regardless of the way my workout is going, when I see him and the effort he puts forward I take my on workout up a notch. I do not as a rule look to others for motivation but, I can not help it when I see him.

Maybe I will just tell him "Thanks."

thats another thing, you hear about all these people pissing and moaning about being 14% bf, shitty genetics, etc. You see a guy busting his ass with missing a half a foot and it really makes you think to yourself that you need to stop being such a pussy, man up, and be happy that you have what you have.

I've seen this guy missing an entire leg come to my gym before. I've only seen him doing upper body stuff though.

If you put the emphasis on that it's the amount of effort he puts forward and the intense focus he has that motivates you instead of making it about his foot then I doubt he'll be offended.

PS - Cory Station NTTC, which is the old Naval Air Station (WWII), has an awesome gym open to all military personnel which several BBs trained at as well under the guy who manages it (Dave?).
(Of course I haven't been stationed there since the mid 90's so I don't know if the same guy still manages it)
