I've got a .mpeg video file. It has audio. I want to get the video file with the audio to iMovie. I've tried dragging the file to the clips section, but it doesn't give me the audio.

    What do I do?

Also, I've tried having the clip selected in iMove, and selecting extract audio and then iMovie crashes on me. It happens every time. Is there anything else I can do?

.mpg files when imported into imovie or final cut don't bring the audio over because of how it is encoded into the movie. to fix this, you need something like audio hijack to record the audio as you play the movie or upgrade quicktime to pro and use the export feature. I know there are others, but these are the only two I know of. I think its really stupid but its the way it is.

I don't have pro, but I believe its under File --> Export. there should be an option to export the audio only or save it as a different type of file. Check the apple discussion forums about this...thats where I saw it.
