    :x:

People on craigs list want an arm and a leg for used ones, like $600... it also seems like they recently jacked up the prices on new ones.

what do you want to shoot?

i think the tokina 12-24 f/4 is great if you can find a sharp one. i personally don't see a reason to do a lot of wide angle shit at wide apertures anyway.

can find one used for like $300

My widest right now is 28 and it's not cutting it

    yeah 28 is shit

i find that the 17-50 on dx works nice. i didn't really like much wider than that. can't stand how shit is so distorted

too bad you missed the deal at Staples. People were getting 50% off the 10-22mm which came out to be $425.

Didn't you have to buy a camera to go along with it?

Yes. You buy a camera and 50% off accessories and they considered lenses as accessories.

You could have bought a cheap shit $50 P&S camera and then buy the lens for 50% off.

I found one used for $600... i think i'm going to do it.

I hate paying this much for a very limited lens but I need something better than 28mm

I could probably get rid of my 28-135 and get this lens. I'd have the 70-200 for the deep end

no i dont have time right now to pull up a 17 wide open. it's only f4.0 wide open too, the depth of field is not that narrow but acceptable

The 17-85 is much better than people give it credit for. It only kind of sucks at 17-24mm. It's great at the long end.
