So, I can't seem to find a clear distinction between the K-1 kickboxing events and the K-1 MMA events.

As far as I am aware, the K-1 organisation was originally a kickboxing organisation, that has branched out into MMA.

Am I correct? And how can you clearly tell the different between a kickboxing event of theirs and an MMA event of theirs.

Sorry for the very noobie question.

    Thanks.

    It's actually K-1 Hero's (lol Engrish).

Sometimes they'll mix their cards up between K-1 and K-1 Hero's to confuse things a bit more, e.g. having an MMA fight or mixed rules on a K-1 card.

AFAIK, K-1 and its stars is still slightly bigger than MMA in Asia, especially now that Pride is gone, with guys like Yamamoto and Kang the exception, on merit of them being top fighters with Japanese and somewhat Korean pedigree respectively.

I think things are slightly on the decline in Japan for both MMA and K-1, and Korea is turning into the bigger market.

Basically K-1 Kickboxing is just that. Kickboxing. They wear boxing gloves. They are allowed to throw punches, kicks and knees. If they clinch there is an activity time limit and or a knee limit.

In K-1 MMA it is just that MMA. Smaller gloves, no elbows, ground work allowed etc... The following vids should demonstrate the differences.
