First is a rep PR for me, 595x3. About as deep as I care to go with a shoulder width stance.

Second is Shiftknob's squat. We kept the J Hooks at my rack height and Shiftknob is a good bit shorter then I am, so we had to help him get the weight out. Left spotter forgot to lift so the set up was ugly. On the way up he banged into the J Hooks, but I never grabbed him and the side spotters never grabbed him, so it looks like a nice PR for the kid @ 325x1 but it was ugly as sin and high, but he's never tried the weight before so I give him props. I believe he's around 165lbs so its not too shabby.

Does shiftknob train with you regularly? Is he competing anytime soon?

    Shiftknob up in hurr...

Thanks for posting the vid maine, I had a great time training last night. Like I said I am still young in the sport and I am always trying to learn more and take advice from those bigger and stronger than me. I probably won't ever become a PLer, but I admire PLing for the quality sport it is and the people it breeds. I know that in order to put some mass on my body and get stronger, I will have to learn from those above me. I weighed in at 163 yesterday, probably around 10-11% BF. I am realistically trying to bulk to 185 or so lean mass and get my max lifts up a bit more. This is only the beginning for me, I can only grow stronger from here. I am not too happy with the depth, I wish I had a few more inches, but oh well....a PR is a PR I guess. I usually go balls deep on my rep sets, nothing more satisfying than a deep squat.

:wtc: I know, I told maine i wasnt to happy either...next time I guess...Im just gonna keep pushin'. I won't set any records or anything but my goal right now is to squat in the high 300's while weighing in at 180 or so, I will see how this year goes for me.

Not competing, still trying to grow bigger and stronger. I've made decent progress since summer though, I was 148 and weak as fuck when I came out of Fire Academy I had lost some size and strength, so the past few months Ive just been bulking.

I really don't mean to be an ass, and I respect you (Shiftknob) just cause it's clear you've got some dedication and all that, but do you actually consider a 3' or so high squat a PR? I mean, I wouldn't think most people do, but clearly Maine sees it as a PR (and if he sees it as a PR it's legit enough for me), but I mean, in general, do you consider lifts like that PRs?

Other than that, those are some pretty impressive lifts.

Like I said, im still not happy with it. Ill be back to do it full depth soon, with more weight. Your not being an ass, you are being observant. Was more than 3" though.

I dont know what happened...I squat very deep with my sets of 225, 275 ,etc...

I'm sure it just because it was more weight on your back than you're used to
