    ******NEW PICTURES ON PAGE 2*********

I just got my new T1i last friday and went out and took a few pictures of my car. Pictures were pp'ed in Lightroom, and I know i kinda went overboard with the gradient but I like it :hs:

Please C&C so I can improve

PP is not good. Cropping should stay consistent ratio, the white balance is different from each photo

fix your pop ups! pull up the top of the pop up to make it even with the hood.

love the car though, I miss mine soooo much.

Thanks. What do you mean by consistent ratio for cropping? And as far as the WB goes, how would I go about correcting that? I did do an auto WB in lightroom for a couple of the pictures, but for some I didnt like the way it changed them, so I undid it. Anything else with the PP that you think I can improve?

I love it so far. Its really a great little camera. I havent used it too much, just these two "photoshoots", but the pictures really turn out pretty crisp IMO. The only thing that I dont like is how small it is, and by that I mean the length, but I'm going to fix that with a battery grip here probably next month when I get some cash flow. I just gotta become a better photog so I can take full advantage of the equipment lol.

lol thats what everyone said on CR.net. I didnt even know it was the lights, I always figured it was the hood that wasnt sitting right because the previous owner rear ended someone and I havent gotten a new hood yet. I'll probably fix it this weekend.

#4 is just a "slammed" shot of how far the pinchweld is from the ground. I dont really know why I included it to be honest.

On your PP, ditch the gradients, they look like ass, and lay off the fancy vignetting as well (or fix it in ps/lr if that's from the camera.) Work on your composition first, then work on PP skills. Leave it to minor tweaks until you know what you're trying to shoot, then work on the post shit when you've become at least semi-competent on the camera.

When shooting cars, seeing rim is > than seeing tire, so turn the wheel accordingly.

Throwing a snapshot of how low the car is sitting, with a set of keys for perspective is fine for showing off to the ricers, but when you want CC on the photography itself, leave that shit out.

For your shots under the bridge/off ramp, you need more light. what you're getting is patchy, uneven, and inadequate. On the pier/harbor/whatever, you're using the sun OK, but your backgrounds are... dissatisfying. In a few #8 in particular, a good chunk of what you were shooting was blown out.

for some of your more "creative" angles, you're shooting areas of the car that aren't lit up at all. You need some fill light. If you don't want to spring for speedlights, try using reflector panels (a big piece of white poster board will do) set up off camera (or far enough off that you can easily clone/crop out what you get in the shot) opposite your light source (in this case, the sun) to bounce some of that light onto the darker areas of your subject. You might need a patient friend, or rig up some form of stand for this.

The half/half rim/fender shot is crap. It's boring, no lines, nothing to speak of. The only thing i could see this being used for is part of a composite on the next OT opening page... and just a minor aspect at that.

The final shot... the light is bad overall, but made worse by the odd duck out. Out of 4 cars, you've got bright-n-shiny, bright-n-shiny, black hole, bright-n-shiny... the 3rd ride, while nice, just seems out of place in the composition. It's like lining up Danica Patrick, next to Angelina Jolee, next to Yoko Ono, next to Keira Knightly... No matter how hard you want to look at the total package, that ugly fucking bitch is gonna draw your eye, and ruin the whole thing.

img_0044 is the only one I like (location) except the PP kills it

I'd also suggest parking the car away from the sign and shooting it at sun rise (or sun set)

it's not the miata, it's not the photos, it's not the editing...it's those ugly birth defect abortion of wheels/tires that needs to go. The stretched tire look is incredibly :greddy:
