here's a random question; what are those random cutouts on bumpers these days? like in your first picture?

i know some cars have cameras in bumpers, other motion detectors, is that what they are? sometimes i see them on shitty cars too, so what are those "fake" cutouts? lol

cutouts in front of headlights are generally headlight washer nozzles that pop up. Some cars have the spot for them but don't actually have them installed. (IE: they may be an option in the US, while they may come stock in Europe or elsewhere).

On rear bumpers, if it's a camera you should only see one small round opening. Sometimes there will also be sensors back there to detect if you're gonna back into something.

thats a gorgeous lookin car...just don't like the lack of headroom in the back ...

my wife really likes that and the e55....she wants an e55 but i'd rather buy a bmw 550i because to me the bmw just has a more unique feel...and is more of a driver's car...

no shit its a better car than the 550i its an all out performance car

its like saying the m5 is superior to a e500

the only reason i'd consider the e55 is because i could pick up a slightly used one for around the same price as a brand new 550i..

yes and even though its quite fast and handles pretty well

i'd still rather have a new 550i because to me the bmw just has a more unique feel to it

the e55 is still a mercedes and they've always made great luxury cars....

the 550i is more of a drivers car

    this again is my opinion

    yours may differ

    :)

but that cls500 does look sexy!

Like the other guy said the ones in the top pic are for headlight washers. On any new Mercedes right now if it has those cutouts, it has washers. Most of the time (except for the new W211 with the sport package) it also has the bi-xenon headlight option. If you are talking about the square/round cutouts lower on the bumper, they are for the screw in tow hooks that come with the car. That is how they are strapped down on the ships when they come from Germany. You pop the tow hook cover out and screw in a tow eye so you have somewhere solid to pull it from/tie it down.

I am going home this weekend to have my new 06 330i. I will take some pictures of it with the CLS. My sister took a picture of the car for me. That is my 10 year old brother in the car.
