So I'm still new, however I think I've come quite a way to where I am now. I've been learning more and more, and enjoy learning. I really appreciate OTAP's criticism, so that's why I'm posting some pictures I took today. 2 days ago, I got a new 40D, and yesterday I got a 28-135mm lens. I need to save money for more lenses, however for right now, I think the 28-135 is pretty decent. The one thing that I know I need to work on is composition, and I'm trying to take more and more pictures to get a better eye. Let me know what you think.

You know, I just noticed that. It looked fine at first, but I completely agree. What can I do about that?

Is number 7 any better? That one was about 15 feet up looking down

Yeah. I kinda want to retake number 10, but do it from the ground so it's looking up, and try to focus on them better. I think I was having trouble focusing because I couldn't get a fast enough shutterspeed to get a crisp image.

You need to learn how to post process.

You are not going to get the shots you want without it.

Just a few quick PS jobs that I thought made the shots look better.

Photography is subjective but I think this looks good.

Wow that does look awesome. I've never really done PP because I always thought the true picture should look good first, then work on some PP. Is there any way I can learn some tips and tricks?

Well the old phrase you can't turn poop into a photography is true.

You need to learn the basics of composition and exposure. However the good thing is if you fudge a little you can always correct in PS or Lightroom.

That's the beauty of digital photography. Anyone who gets all pissy and says, "Yeah but you doctored up that photo in photoshop..." Yes I did and it got the desired result! People love to hate on editing photos but the fact of the matter is all good photographers still need to edit their shot to get it just to their liking. Even if it is just minor curves, levels, saturation...

Also in your camera settings try bumping up the saturation a bit! Especially when taking shots of the graffiti.

Also another thing I wish someone told me earlier in my photography journey is USE flash outside! It comes in sooo handy!

Stop using ISO 400 at 1/8 shutter speed on 38mm focal length. Jack your ISO up so you are at least a 1/(focal length*1.5) shutter speed. Noisy images are better than soft images.

edit: I just looked at 8 and 9 which had way more than 1/(focal length*1.5) as shutter speed, but they still look soft. Do you remember where you focused on those pictures? Is this 40D new to you?

Really? I rarely ever use flash. Right now, I only have the built-on flash, which i hate because it always casts shadows.

The 40D is new to me. Most of them I remember where I focused. Number 8 was far left, and number 9 was top right. I don't know exactly how to explain the AF points. To keep exposure, I think I bumped up the ISO and still had a low shutter speed. I wonder if it's the lens

OP can't use pop-up flash to fill in this lighting situation, not enough sun light coming in to the scene. His flash would have to be his primary light source, in which case he will need softboxes and umbrellas due to reflective surfaces (paint) in his scene.

How can I bump up the saturation in the camera?

So in my situation, fill flash wouldn't be a good solution?

Hmm, so you weren't focusing on the sky and got these images. Have you shot anything in day light that can clearly show that it's not your body or your lens that's causing AF issues (and by that I mean, your AF module may not be working properly)?

Fill flash from your pop-up flash will create hot spots due to reflective surfaces on your subject.

I only got the camera 2 days ago. What would you recommend I do to test it tomorrow during the day?
