umm yes, the M145 is an essential part of the M249, especially in combat...

and its not a scope, its an optic.

that link is to some gay airsoft shit with some bullshit shitty crosshair in it. the proper nomenclature for that optic is the M145 Machine Gun Optic. Trust me I know my shit...

"M145 machine gun optic (MGO). The MGO is a fixed 3.4 power, 28mm optical sight that has been designated to engage targets accurately out to 1200m range. The reticle pattern has a built-in trajectory companion from a 300m to 1200m range and can be illuminated. The MGO is ballistically matched to 7.62mm and is normally used on the M240B machine gun, but can be mounted on the M249 squad automatic weapon in the light machine gun role."

LOL...you guys consider the SAW a crew served weapon. Why you guys still running Pec 4's? I figured you guys would have upgraded to Pec 6's. Might as well ditch the leaf sight with that aim point. You got wayyyyy too much stuff going on with that thing.

what the fuck are you talking about. how are we running it as a crew served weapon? these are new guys right out of basic so we had safetys/leaders all around them. You mean PEQ-4? hahah idiot. the thing you are seeing on the M4 and the M249s are PEQ-2s which are 10x better then the PEQ-4s. You can still use the leaf sight with the M68, peice of cake. shot on the 203 range fine with that weapon. kinda funny you are correcting someone who served in a Ranger battalion on weapons. Trust me i know my shit.

    have a great weekend...

the link he provided is not the proper sight/optic... Elcan manufactures the optic, the one he linked is a bullshit airsoft one.

SO sorry, looked to quickly, yes that is in fact a PEQ-2, not the PEQ-4, but both are still out dated, heavy, crap. the PEQ 6 is much better than them. Figured an "elite"...lol.....unit such as our rangers would have upgraded. And, the last time i was informed my a ranger MSgt, the US Army considers the SAW to be a crew served weapon, and must be cleared with all other crew serves when coming onto a army installation. And quite frankly, I've worked with Rangers in person...and I'm not impressed.

this is photos of my current unit. I was in the 3rd Ranger Battalion prior to coming here, thus you see no rangers as this is a standard infantry unit.

PEQ-6 eats batteries WAY too quick. once again, this is not photos of Rangers. pay attention to the unit patches and you can tell. MSgt? No such rank in the Army. do you mean MSG? SAW is a light machine gun which is not crew served. that is why there are 2 saws in a infantry squad, one in each fire team acting indivdually from the rest of the squad unlike a 240 weapons team which has a AG, ammo bearer and gunner... What CO. and Battalion did you work with out of the 75th? i think you are full of lies, but thats just me.

anyways and sorry for my grammar i just woke up hung over

If he's saying MSgt then me thinks AF ...talks about inter agency cooperation? PJ or SP?

I'm a SSgt(we abbreviate our ranks correctly) with the USMC. My most recent tour was 7 months out of Fallujah from late Feebruary to early Sept (05) I was a part of the CG IIMEF(FWD), DCG, And Chief of Staff PSD(Personal Security Detail) I served as lead vehicle gunner for over 100 missions throughout the AL Anbar province, I escorted, Everyone from Gen Casey down, as well as numouous Senators, Congressmen, and Reprisentitived. We aslo worked closely with the department of state, ensureing that they got out to talk to the local tribe/family leaders out in town. Prior to that I was a PMI(Primary Markmanship Instuctor) and Designated Marksman instructor for 2 years. Now...I'm a bum looking for something new to do in the Corps, so i hang out on the interweb and fuck around with prior Rangers i guess.....;)

Actually if you want to get technical...there are several ways to "correctly" abbreviate the ranks in the Army. AR 600-20 prescribes the use and address of the ranks in certain situations. In formal correspondence outside of the Army (in particular with a civilian agency) the use of the longer rank abbreviation is prescribed while the shorter 3 digit ranks are to be used for all correspondence within the Army / Military. Adds for uniformity...ya know? ;)

who, someone knows his coorespondance(sp) manual....good on ya. I'm really not a big fan of the whole typing thing.

I just picked up SSgt, I was a Sgt at the time. Vehicle Commander was the OIC of our Det, Convoy Commander was the senior Sgt, whom was also the team leader.
