  1. Masters of Defense Scorpion - effective for killing would be muggers in an alley or mountain lions while hiking

picked up a couple cheapy lights at walmart. the silver brinkmann 1LED 3AAA (backup to my Inova T2), an old and busted soon to be LED converted minimag 2AA in the middle, and a Dorcy 1AAA keychain light.

The dorcy is as bright as the brinkmann  the perfect light for close up work. but the brinky has more lux at the center due to its center projector lens and a better tactical button...good for blinding people up to 10ft away. :o surprisingly good light output for such a cheap flashlight. the dorcy is great except you have to leave it half unscrewed in order to use the depresser

maglite 4D LED conversion from Elux. next to a brinkmann nexstar which i will be retiring...it's 50% dropoff is literally about 15 mins :hs:

it's pretty bright even on somewhat old batteries. the coating looks like shit but i've had it for 6 years. it can take a beating. i will never buy xenons ever again :p

Awesome! I didn't know there were LED conversions for Mags. I love the usefullness of full size maggies as battle clubs, but hate looking at xenon light.

    Im getting one.

  3. these are the best ones that i found. they even come with a new glass lens

Seriously. I think lighting my farts makes more lumens than a D cell mag.

If you do an LED swap, do a real job and put a Luxeon LED in it's place. Over twice the output for hours of runtime.

I guess that's what mine is too, then, since the SureFire is in the console, the Mag ...uh... weighs down my 20K tow strap?

It's pretty much useless, but with an LED head, it might see some use again.

Good luck killing a mountain lion with your little knife. :mamoru:

  12. People have survived attacks with 3" blades. This one is only 2.5" but if I can slit its throat I can survive.

I have a Ka-bar 5055 for bears. Now that one might be a bit too small (5.25" blade) :noes:

People have also survived attacks with NOTHING. Mountain Lions RARELY predate on humans. If you're gonna hike, carry a pistol or a machete or something that gives you reach.

If you're worried about black bears, don't be.

those are the luxeons. the terralux are rated double what they actually are and in fact drop 40% within minutes. between the tektite and the elux the elux came with a glass lens replacement so i went with that. the tektite does throw a much nicer beam though...an almost perfect beam.

  15. I've been hiking a lot so I'm not really worried :mamoru:

the more often you are in harm's way, the more likely it is that harm will come to you. not saying that you WILL be attacked, just that the more you are in the woods, the more chances there are.

ps- people often drive their cars for years before being car-jacked

  17. Yeah, I'm just not mentally stable enough to carry a gun though :o

If you're planning on taking any animal bigger than a hamster with an edged weapon, you're not mentally stable enough to carry a KNIFE.

  20. it was a joke :mamoru:
