first time shooting something this shiney...any comments?
i like your ideas here, but something isn't making the sax pop out above the smoke. Kinda distracting. What are you using for lighting?
just one large softbox for those from the left side
my only problem is the reflections on the sax...other than that, its a cool photo.
I think I can see you in the first pic
The smoke reminds me of cigarette smoke. Cigarette smoke = yuck
cool idea though
yea thats the hard part. In the first one, the guy is actually the sax owner in the reflection. He moved out of the way after we realized it
Not bad Know what kind of sax it is perhaps? I used to/still kinda do play tenor sax.. I <3 it
Only thing that kinda irks me about these shots is the lightning, but its probably due to my own perception of the tenor sax. I always imagine it being played in a dive down town, with low light coming from candles and weak ceiling fixtures aka the stereotypical jazz bar
but other than that,
yea its a selmer series III...supposed to be pretty good (I don't know anything about it). So you would like it more faded lighting? not the whole pop out of the screen effect? I was really not sure what to do honesly
The smoke is in front of some parts of the sax, try putting distance between sax and smoke. Also try bouncing a flash into something white instead of using a softbox & see what the reflection looks like.
No mark 2 no care okay not really
It probably depends on what you're trying to convey with the image. The lightning in those shots seems to show the sax in itself, so if thats what you were looking for, then they do a good job of it. In an artistic, dramatic sense, I could see a little less direct lighting, more shadows ect
Feel free to ignore anything I say or call me retarded - I have no education in design or anything of the sort.. just basic photo courses so I know nothing
