Here are some pics of a guy in my local Jeep club. He's always talking mad shit and has a majorly huge head. He's sticking with 31s because he said he "has better things to do than replace hubs and axles, and doesn't want to grind any sheet metal"

But anyway. Supposedly it's the first Rusty's longarm kit ever made. They went up to Rusty's and purchased the kits. I haven't seen it personally, but I probably will sometime in the near future. Looks like it articulates pretty well. I asked if he'd heard of Claytons setup and he told me "If I want a sub-frame welded on, I'd have bought a Chevy. You can't weld on the frame anyway it's too thin"

Lots of guys in this local Jeep club are running like 6 inches of lift and 31s, which frankly boggles my mind. If you're going to lift, you might as well stuff some bigger tires under there. But then again they're pretty into the whole Florida rockcrawling scene  and they say having smaller tires is better because it allows more articulation.

People obsessed with flex = :greddy:

Bigger tires = more axle clearance

Isn't that fucking gay? Why are these homos running XJs with 31s and longarms? Why run longarms and buttloads of lift if you aren't going to run larger tires? There's a TJ with a 4.5 inch lift and 31s... WTF?!

The club is actually called "Gator 4x4" and lots of the members go to UF. Some of those guys are alright, but they seem like a bunch of elitist pricks with something to prove. I just go out to have fun and wheel. I'm not a fag that stays away from the mud like these guys, either. They go out of their way to find holes and stuff to pose on.

That's what I was skeptical about at first, too. I've seen some of the incomplete F>R swap kits that are nothing but JUNK. But they claim that Rusty makes the best XJ kits available and ride that guys nuts like you wouldn't fucking believe. I don't think any of them really know much about wheeling and believe all the garbage they've heard from each other... and the 31 > 33 myth seems to be the one they believe most vehemently.

Post this up at Pirate4x4. I guarantee some of these tools post there, and they'd get railed badly there. :big grin:

Reminds me of some guys here at school who I went wheeling with. They would put their front tire on the rock, take a picture, and then back down. I quickly ditched them.

Yeah, but they won't admit that they're just afraid of breaking shit or having a lack of power, or that they use it for their DD and don't want to run larger tires. They make up excuses. Like that they want more articulation. I'm going to laugh like a motherfucker when they all get hung up on shit my Jeep just walks over. I watched one of their long arm XJs on 31s struggle to get out of a twisted up situation that my ZJ walked right through with no wheel spinning. He sat there smoking his Xterrains while I smirked to myself.

I'm not sure I want to start a flame war here, though. I just met these guys and they're the only people I know to wheel with. Although I must admit that I find any club that intentionally wheels on illegal land a bit shady. They've created their own trails on private property. :hsugh:

I also posted something about wanting to wheel with him to see how his setup matches up against mine:

    Quote:
Jim 311: Should be interesting to see how yours matches up to my setup.

    Him:
There is no match up... you have stock control arms

And yet... I don't have stock control arms.
