    I doubt it. UV might hurt the glass, but other than that I dont think so.

    No I have done it myself and seen lots of other pics with the sun in it. I have taken pictures of welding also.

    You're not suppose to point it at the sun during mirrorlockup because it apparently damages the shutter curtains.
