My first try at food. I had to buy the plate and bamboo mat; $6 at ross :) All natural lighting (as some of you here has suggested). Used my 85mm 1.4 @ 1.8, I wanted very shallow DOF since it looks more pleasing, and all sample photos i've seen from istock photo and shutterstock, the photogs use very shallow DOF

It's really 3 photos with different crops, i'm not sure which crop i should use on the poster prints for the restaurant.

The setting looks great man! Really nice shots. Only thing I would try and do is tone down the speculars from the window.

I hate you because you have a 85 f/1.4... but I love the pictures it takes.

Thanks! Yea, the highlights were not clipping until i turned up the exposure in LR :hs:

Thanks! Well, unfortunately I didn't take a photo of the setup. however i just set the food items behind the window and set the bamboo mat and red cloth. I did use a tripod though

the 85 is a dream. I use no other lenses anymore :)

Thanks! you really need to get one. It completely worth it. I want to get a 5d, but this lens is keeping me from switching to canon!

Why not a D300? Nothing against canon, but if you already have Nikon stuff you're going to take a hit in the wallet if you want to switch format. :dunno:

But if you do decide to join the sheeple, sell me your lens. :big grin:

some really nice shots. Do you think it would be possible to bring the colors out a little more?

I agree. Needs a bit more DOF. Food shots should generally have the food in focus. Nicely done otherwise.

maybe my sarcasm detector is broken, but aren't these shots pushing the boundaries of oversaturation already?

Maybe it's just my monitor but the vibrance of the shots just isn't transferring through. It could be some kind of color mode thing :dunno:

Indeed it is, but i was going for that look.:)

    for sure, haha.

    thanks!

thanks! i did bring the colors out a bit already...

    Thank you!

I guess the ad is working then haha

    Thanks! GF's restaurant.

U know i didn't even notice that. Now that you mentioned it, it does look a bit strange. I went around searching for any ingredients that looked useful.
