Only thing that's glaring is the low HDL which should rebound with some fish oil and less test.

heh my chol total is near 230 (last test i had was in holland, where i was eating prob 2lb of meat a day) and i have a better hdl to ldl ratio than that 70 somehting hdl, 139 ldl,. its not about the test but what he is eating, probably on a diet low in monounsat fats and possibily consisting of unmonitored transfat consumption... i dont think the roids gave him bad blood work.

matter of fact my friend who has a perfect diet on roids had 50 hdl and 150 over all

roids do affect cholesterol levels but many people thing it's not much to worry about because they generally rebound without issue once they come off AAS. however it's just bro-science. :dunno:

also, eating a clean diet can help for a lot of people like your friend

ok it also depends what roids. if you are taking injectables you should be fine. but if you are taking pills, which are methylized and damage the liver (that is where cholesterol is made, then your ldl values will go up). Now a funny thing is alcoholics who have a damaged liver have high hdl cholesterol, but the hdl molecules arent that useful since the reverse removal system is somewhat damaged

If you want to truly assess your cardiac risk you should have a lipoprotein profile done, here is the best one

I've always wanted to see my cholesterol levels.
I'm not on AAS, but I eat a diet fairly high in fat, eat a good amount of red meat, and don't do even 20% of the amount of cardio I used to do.

However, I do consume stupid amounts of olive oil, eat oats everyday, and take fish oil.

:dunno: His choice. Guy is a fucking house. I know for a fact he's been on a lot more than that. He'll probably compete again but doesnt have the motivation to diet. I can't blame him. Dude has kids and shit.

    good numbers kit.

by the way.. add you hdl +ldl then subtract from total

this is you vldl level, the one that actually block arteries

so if you dont have way many more hdl's than vldls... so people like erik.. consider yourself at higher risk... :)

How common is this testing? I've never seen it as an option on any lab blood work request sheets. If it's not something covered by insurance I'm not sure I'd bother.
