i don't know what i'm looking at, except they're trying to get a hold of the opponent with their hands
s and toss, but they look pretty unsuccessful with grabbing

    anyone want to enlighten me?

basically at elite levels of judo, if you get your ideal grip. you'll throw the person. you're that good. what happens is something called grip fighting, where you deny your opponent an ideal gripping situation while attempting to get your ideal grip. at elite levels of competition this may only happen 2, 3, 4 times in a match. in this case both of them are fighting like crazy for their grip. two very fuckin explosive powerful guys.

twice during this match they were both awarded shidos(penalties), for what looked like inactivity. the other signal the referee gave as i recall was to fix their gis/belts.
