look horrible in his loss to gegard. it was as if he just gave up and wanted out of the cage.

his last 2 wins are against freakshow scrubs.

and he got destroyed by babalu & cane.
    later homes.

now hes fighting minowa in the superhulk. who cares.

I say give the guy a break. He's fought some really tough competition. Losing to Machida, Babalu, and Mousasi are nothing to be ashamed of, IMO, and Cane is a rising star.

He's shown flashes of brilliance on his feet, and he's got an impressive judo pedigree. He obviously needs do work on his ground game, and his heart is at times questionable.

But I'd still prefer to watch him over the Baders and Hamills of 205 any day.

He's fought too high of competition from day 1, and he continues to do so because his couple of lucky wins have gotten him a lot of exposure. All of his losses other than Glover Texiera are against top 10 LHWs

Personally I hope he goes away because he can't seem to stop himself after the fight is over if he's punching a defenseless opponent. His last two wins have ended with him still trying to punch the guy after the ref ended the fight.

He looks great in the first round before he gasses out. He's like the black Baroni, in that regard.

You have to cut him some slack, he has only fought monsters in the 205 lb weight division. Machida, Cane, Babalu, and Mousasi are 4/5 of his loses.

babalu is not a monster. hes more like a fat 185lb fighter.

cane is unproven and hasnt faced anyone better than jason lambert.

and im still waiting for gegard to get his ufc invite and be exposed as average @ 205 & 185.

Depending on the school that Judokas train at, some of them do pretty rough / defense oriented ground stuff. Like the collar choke but with their knuckles in your adam's apple. I noticed that there is very little no gi taught or trained in judo (well at least at the place I visited). So that would hurt their transition to the current MMA scene that is almost exclusively no-gi. I know Karo has some videos about how he adapts the judo techniques to work in the no-gi setting.

At the school I visited, there was a drill for 2 people who would sit with their backs against each other and when sensei blew the whistle you would start / attack for position until getting a pin or submission. They had almost wrestlers mentality and went full tilt during the session; which, was different than what I was used to in BJJ.

On a side note, I got rocked a bunch of times when I didn't fall properly.

Poor guy had the misfortune of two amazing underdog upsets early in his career.

If he hadn't have KO'd arona and lil nog he'd probably have ended up on TuF and lost in the semifinals.

I thought he was doing well against Mousasi. He was afraid to pull the trigger a bit and just gave up in the end, but you can tell he has some serious skills and athletic ability. Just needs to work on his head (and ground game)
