I have a social website and I need a way for my members to be able to take a short video on their webcams and upload it to my website into their profiles.

The only software I can see that does this is form Userplane, but its VERY expensive and they only lease it, you cant buy it.

is there any software that I can buy that does this and is reasonable?
My competitor does it and they love it but its all flash so I cant see what he uses even in the html scourcecode (believe me I tried)

    thanks

do you have a link to the exact software youre talking about? I saw 2 on aobe, one is $1k and the other is like $4k
    I have Red5

so if I buy adobe flash server that will allow people to record videos on their webcams and upload them?
I dont understand what the front end is for that, for the users to click to be able to generate video

If using FMS it basiclly goes as follows.

    User records video & uploads.
After uploading, file is encoded for proper flash format (h264, flv, etc).
Flash player then calls flash content via rtmp/rtmpt/rtmpe/rtmpte link from FMS server.

Not entirely difficult to setup and do, but it's a bitch to fix sometimes when it breaks (trust me.. i work with FMS2.5/3 and FMLE daily).
