So my roommate throws a party, im already in bed. fuckit im sleeping. i come downstairs to say wassup to the friends, have a smoke and a beer. Show a friend my WoW character (i know ) and after a round of rockband i go back to bed. he stays on my laptop. hes a fellow tech and hes let me ride his motorcycle before. hes cool to use it. i go back to bed, but get up to grab a glass of water and as im coming down the stairs hes facing away from me. on my laptop. with 2 command prompt windows and a webpage open. i stand being him and he is just pinging n tracerouting wow servers. walk behind him and say "wassup" he look back, sees me and gets all suprised, and then looks back at the computer and Minimizes everything. opens up the internets to some random ass webpage. "no seriously, what are you doing" says I. "ohh, uhh, nothing" says he. now, homie knows im not innept to this shit. its what i do for a living for gods sake. Why oh Why would he think that the proper action to take was to minimize shit AFTER ive acknowledged it. and then say "oh nothing" either it was a spontaneous reaction due to a porn addiction OR homie thinks hes slicker than me. Either way, not on my shit brah.

Cliffs: Dude uses computer, does (silly) stuff, i call him on it and he tried to play it off even though i was watching the whole time.

Thats Just bad nerd etiquitte, no?

I want stories of you and other tech savvy people getting into it about something(stupider=better). we all have good ones. shit who am i kiddin this thread will die.

ps: you talk like a 13 year old, if your friend is the same age as you then I wouldn't be worried. particularly if you know for a fact he was pinging WoW servers... Maybe he was using your account to try a script so that he doesn't get banned? Its okay though because when you get banned and stop playing fantasy games you might grow up to be a normal person - unlike codex.

Why had it? Only reason I could see to hide it is if he was doing something along the lines Fase had suggested...

I use pings and traceroutes on other computers before when I can't access a site to see why it wasn't responding. Why does it matter if someone sees me?

But ya, dude was acting all freaked out over nothing and he knew i saw what he was doing, but still acted all sketchy. i think he might be a chronic porn fiend and it was an instinctual reaction

Wow people randomly mention me far too often :mamoru:

Haven't played wow in 6 months either, though it's a fantastic game, I was just done with it after 3 years

Here's my story, not quite the same thing but wtf I'll share anyway. So my first couple years in college I lived at home and commuted an hour to the nearest big city, my best friend from highschool and his brother also moved up there and shared an apartment where I spent a lot of time. All 3 of us were big tech dorks and particularly his older brother was involved in this type of shady shit all the time. Well my friend was always pissed because he never had bandwidth for downloading anything because whatever the hell his brother did was always using all of it, so he would constantly disconnect his cable from the router, which happened to be in his room. After so many times of this his brother got so pissed off he wrote a custom program that ran as a hidden service or something, I still don't know exactly how he hid it so well and I was a CS student and am now a professional programmer and I couldn't figure out how to disable it, but anyways this fucking program would constantly pull random gay porn pictures from the internet and set them as his wallpaper, like every 15 minutes or something it changed. We tried everything to fix it and eventually after like a week of the gay porn slideshow formatted the hard drive and reinstalled the OS (98 SE I think lol).

Horse porn in the startup folder of Win98SE at my first LAN party in '98. Yeah, in Win98 you couldn't do anything until every program ran COMPLETELY in startup. I didn't have my monitor on, but my speakers sounded innocent enough until I realized what I was watching...
... I got them back. We were playing CS 5.5 online at another LAN. I shared the floppy drives of everyone involved. If they killed me, I'd Alt+TAB and in my open network drive I'd repeatedly double-click their drives. It's amazing what random access to a floppy drive will do to a 333MHZ-450MHz PI & PII. There computers were useless, they couldn't even Ctrl+ALt+Del...
