[Not rly A&M related, but this is a continuation of a discussion in another hijacked thread in this forum. :o]

I was at Walnut & Jeffrey today on my lunch, but I didn't expect there to be so many mixed Asian restaurants at that one intersection. There were Chinese places, Vietnamese places, Japanese places, Korean places, pho, tofu, seafood, buffet, etc. etc. :hyper: I just wanted some good ramen. :wtc:

I've had ramen from the noodle house in the food court at the Mitsuwa shopping center over in Costa Mesa (?) off Paularino (?), Ebisu Mendokoro in Fountain Valley off Brookhurst, and Ezo's Noodle Cafe off Jamboree in Tustin Marketplace. I like Ebisu's the best so far. :yum:

Where else should I try? :x: And where exactly is that place on Walnut & Jeffrey?

I need to hear down to Brookhurst for 2 reasons. I need to go to a hobby shop down there and buy some models and to help my cousins with some stuff. I guess I'll get some ramen at the same time

yeah, they have a couple. I remember there was a HUGE gundam model shop a few stores away. Had movie props, Gundam Models and alot more models. went there a couple times and was just amazed at how many they had. like, 10 of just ONE model. Been a couple of years since then, I was annoyed since they moved and I didn't know.

i live like 10 minutes away from that plaza so i'm always there for asian foodz. :mamoru:

takaraya i think is what it's called. i just call it the cafeteria. the owners of that shop are japanese and not your typical korean/chinese owned jap place. it seems to be a family runned business, and they used to own a ramen shop out in costa mesa a while back. they have some pretty tasty ramen. kind of expensive though, but even if you don't get the ramen, the food their is pretty good for the price.

if you were to get on jeffery from hwy 5, you'd turn right on walnut, and then right into the 76 station. it's right next to the 76 station.

also in that plaza, there's good chinese food. ay chung noodle house in the corner is one of my favorite taiwanese places to eat. the minced pork rice is delicious. beef noodle is always a favorite too. nice time deli right across from ay chung is supposed to be good too, but i haven't been there.

additionally, in the other plaza (the arbor), there's taiko (also owned and runned by jappers) with some bomb diggity sushi. easily the best sushi i've had in america. and i eat a lot of it. it tasted almost exactly like the sushi i had in japan. their eel is very fucking good, hamachi is usually top notch too. you should try to make it here for lunch sometime. i drove by the other day and there was a line about an hour before it opened.

also in this plaza, AJ's has some delicious ass chinese food as well. the cold sour and spicy noodles are what i usually eat. my roommate and cousin always get the beef noodle there. we always get our own bowl of this one dish. i don't know what it is in english, but it's basically dumplings with the spicy oil mixed with some soy sauce like thing. i can't really put my finger on it, but it's good.

i'm sad they closed down red onion though. that place was awesome.

It's closed? I saw the sign for it when I was down there today.

Some of those other places sound familiar. I'll look for the 76 station next time. :coold: Thanks!

Fucking Ezo in Tustin Marketplace is the worst ever, I live right by it in the apartment homes. My g/f loves Ebisu the best also, her family has been going there for the past 10 years. I always go the Lollicup on walnut/jeffrey but the only places I've eaten at there are Sam Woo, Pho 99, and the of course Taiko for Japanese, I tried the noodle place in the Taiko shopping center once also, but it was a long time ago and I can't really remember how good it was.
