not sure if this should be here or the Programming sub forum. anyway, ive been googling a few articles regarding SOAP and REST and im still not sure what the difference is between the two, and what is the significance of either one?

from what i have gathered so far REST is the preferred choice these days. it looks like REST is simpler than SOAP, so implementing it is easier than SOAP. a REST response looks much like a regular XML file, while SOAP has its own enveloping process.

what do u guys think? thanks a lot

It really depends on the scope of the application. Rest is more accessible and flexible, as there is much data accessibility that can be done via XML.

hmm i thought they both use XML? am i wrong? also, ive found that REST uses regular HTML requests such as POST, whereas SOAP uses remote procedure calls, which results in a much easier use of REST vs. SOAP.
