I wouldn't use GoDaddy for hosting ever.

But I like their renewal for a year + transfer for $6.99 or whatever. I've been consolidating my little onesie and twosie domains from all over different accounts as they get near expiration.

Does Namecheap have *permanent* free WhoisGuard?

I see it's normally only $2.88 a year, free with new reg or xfer? I might do that on my GoDaddy domains when they need renewal.

You'd think name protection would be cheaper since it's basically just e-mail redirection and notification. So little traffic, uses hardly any resources. I wonder if that would be a good area to get into...

Same here. support is great when you need it and they will contact you to help get your domains renewed if you have a bunch.

But the best part is the price. You can ALWAYS find coupon codes for great discounts for new registrations AND renewals which isn't always easy to find. Namecheap is more even with their coupon codes and I don't think they have coupons for renewals.

Both are good for domains though...just like godaddy better.

Fabulous.com is another good registrar as far as price.

    I use Namecheap.

I had Godaddy hosting once and wanted to shoot myself.

godaddy is a clusterfuck and sneaks in charges if you're not careful, not to mention its difficult as fuck to navigate around. The only positive side is that the coupons beat namecheap.

:werd: I was considering switching my domains to namecheap, but decided just to stick, for now at least, with godaddy. I've never had a problem with them as a registrar.
