Inferior materials or what?
I wouldn't say that Polymer and chemically treated metals are 'inferior materials' but thats just me.
I don't really think Glocks are cheap, the alternatives are expensive.
$500 for a chunk of plastic and steel is cheap? I think they're priced the same as pretty much all other major manufacturers.
because they sell so many they can afford to not rip us off, and they want to be able to put the finest self defense tool in the world of the hands of anyone able to purchase it legally, not just the top 1%
Wasnt there an article a while back that said it only cost ~$75 to make a glock? I think it was that interview with/about Gaston where one of his friends tried to kill him.
Yeah well try to buy one in Germany. They are $$$$ along with most other guns..except CZ
...with a knife, I might add.
Of course they're made with inferior materials.
Everyone knows that all Glocks do is blow up.
theres a small price to pay for perfection. No pun intended.
What are you talking about???
Glock 22/23 : $499
SA XD40 Tac: $479.
Basically the same price, and in fact, a little more expensive.
They sell enough of them to justify an affordable price. Plus I look at them as the Honda Civic of guns. They'll run forever with little maintenance, but don't have the feeling of other's (1911).
well spoken my friend....i can tell u right now if the SHTF ever occured, the two guns id be grabbing from my collection would be my Glock and my Vepr AK-47.
Speaking of SHTF, for any and all of you fellow floridians reading this post in the path of "ernesto" today and tomorrow, best of luck to you all.
Funny side-note; Ernesto is my middle name.
I wouldn't call a $500 handgun cheap. Just because some other companies guns cost more doesn't make a Glock any less expensive.
We're going to call you "the hurricane" from now on. Just so you know.
Molded plastic is less exensive than steel or al. Also, economy of scale. There's a ton more Glocks being built than Kimbers.
WOW, no Krott yet?
WTF. Somebody should call him and make sure everything is ok.
hes fine he prolly just hasnt had his daily bowl of glocki-O's for breakfast yet.
Someone post his signal.
because Gaston Glock is so fucking rich from selling so many of the worlds finest handguns to the worlds most elite military and law enforcement units, as well as civlians, that he can afford to turn a slightly smaller profit-margin per gun than the other inferior companies, such as Kimber, Wilson, HK, SA, S&W, Colt, and Sig.
some dude told me he was a contractor in Iraq, and bought a brand new glock for $150 or something like that
the glock pistol is a proven pistol design of reliability and durability, and in most cases above average accuracy from a combat-purpose handgun. And krott is prolly right that Glock just has such a huge sales number on a yearly basis that they dont need to raise their prices to make a huge profit.
And id like to point out that unlike alot of other companies, glocks quality hasnt taken a nosedive to increase the bottomline over the past 20 years like other companies have....youll always hear people bitching about how they wish colt, kimber or smith "made pistols like they used to"......when was the last time somebody wished they could snag a 1st gen glock cuz they dont make em like they used to?
consistent product for 20+ years....i like that....btw, s&w has raised their prices AGAIN....the price of a 642 snubbie is now 419.99....the quality hasnt gotten better.
