This has always been one of those things I never really got. It's like the import vs. domestic debate, but this one is more appealing to nerds.

Myself, I think that both are good platforms, and I don't think one is superior over the other.

Both sides, fill me in. :dunno:

Nope, I really want to know why they're both always at each others' throats all the time.

Christ, these arguments are as bad as Nissan vs. GM threads.

Its because the rivalry between Mac and MS is long running and fairly dramatic + people with nothing better to do but argue that their preferences in things is better + financially and practically you have to use either one or the other and you want to convince your self you made the right choice.

Every platform/OS seems to have nearly-religious zealots. :dunno:

I like them both, but I too grew up on IBM, so I am more comfortable with them. I would love to have one of those new G5s or whatever they are called. I was down in Miami a few months ago, and went into the Apple Store at The Falls..Wow.. Very sweet. We dont have an Apple Store in my area that I know of.

Some of the earliest memories I have are playing on my dad's 286 when I was a kiddo, so yes I am preferencial to PCs because I'm super-familiar with them. I think PCs and Macs both have their place and given enough money, I would definitely own a few PCs and a few Macs.

However when I see people spazing out because someone uses a Mac LCD on a PC, all I can think is :ugh: ... it's stupid to take it to that level..

I too grew up on a PC, and find Macs to be cumbersome, at best. The OS seems very slick though. PC's have a much larger software base, which I'm sure influences people's purchases. I may consider buying one someday, since I don't game (one of the key benefits to owning a PC over a Mac), but I can't justify the price. I prefer to build my own computers, and this is not an option with a Mac. Also, if a motherboard goes out on a PC, it's a $100-200 part from a local store. If one goes out on a Mac, it's atleast $400 and has to be ordered. Same with all the other parts - manufacturers inflate the prices of the parts, and you usually have nowhere else to go to get the parts. Hell, where I work, we have to order preowned parts, because the manufacturer's won't sell the spares that they have (not sure if the customer has this option with Apple). I think most people just stick with what they know, and most people know how to use a PC.
