so who makes the hard drives in macs

    do these things rock the seagates or are they given shitty ass fujitsu or hitachi ala Dell

    One of my mac pros came with an apple-branded hitachi, the other a seagate.

    Fugitsu, Hitachi, Seagwate, WD. They use whatever is likely cheaper to them at the time. Although most of the I tend to see Fugitsu drives.

    It also makes sense to source from as many companies as possible in regards to failure issues.

    interesting. I would have said to get the company that has the lowest failure rate. of course very little comprehensive data is likely available

    I think they are all reasonably close to each other these days and that won't help if there are problems with any one drive model.

    Mine has a Fujitsu last time I checked.

    Still getting used to the shift from Windows to Mac.

    I've had fujitsu, hitachi and seagate. The latest macbook pro came with a seagate and failed less than a year later. Apple put in a hitachi and that died about 4 months later. Put in a WD myself and it's been fine.
