What size target at what range? I'm going to the shooting range later today and I was wondering if there's a preferred range for handguns (no outdoor ranges here).

Here's the last time I went. I put my hand next to the holes for size comparison. This was @ 25 yards with my xd40.

25 yards, i'd call that pretty damn good.

i usually practice at 12-15 yards-ish, figure if i get in a shooting situation in real life it probably won't be any farther than that, probably within a few feet let alone 12-15 yards.

I'd say that grouping at 25 yards is better than the vast majority of people who i see shoot at the range without doubt!

better than i'd do at 25 yards that's for sure

    I practice for a sub 4'' group at 7 yards, semi-rapid fire.
If I really take my time, and 'target shoot' then I get about 5-6'' at 25 yards.
    Both with my G23C.

Can we make sure this wasn't 25 feet?

my standard is 10 shots 25 yard (75 feet) group under 4". With match barrel and match ammo I expect under 3". This is unsupported freehand.

This was supported primary hand. I was trying to fire it as quick as I could while staying on target. That was a box of 50 blazer brass rounds.

Why would it be 25 feet?

at 25 yards shooting as quick as you could while staying on target you have a group like that with a handgun. well sir if this is true i must

i shoot like a retard in comparison, i couldn't get a group like that at 25 yards if i took my time. :(
