i loved his on the ground TKO shot on PdP :mamoru:

I felt bad for him, but god damn that was the loudest sitting punch I have ever heard.

Old AA was really fun to watch. He needs to crush a can or two and get back in the game mentally.
I for one would liek to see him vs Sylvia one last time when he is healthy and loser has to cut to 205 and fight in the WEC

I don't understand why against Silvia the 3rd time he never tried to take him down... it was a long and boring 5 rounds that he was clearly losing... He should have tried a different plan..

He injured his foot. I think in the first round or second he threw a leg kick that SYLVIA checked lazily and AA blasted SYLVIA's knee with his instep/foot. He could barely put weight on it let alone push off and shoot with it.

He was a sitting duck and lucky that he was fighting SYLVIA who was content with not fighting.

I dunno, I think after his last two fights Dana and many of his fans felt that the excitment and ferocity he brought into the ring had kind of died away and was replaced by extreme caution, which isn't what we've come to expect out of AA.

Though he is winning his way back up the HW ladder I just don't think Dana wants to show him in this state. I feel like he'll be given a very tough and aggressive HW next and it will be do or die for him.

AA vs. Werdum was a boring fight but AA figured that boring > losing so he refused to go to the ground with Werdum at all. He respected Werdum's ground game and knew that if he just stayed standing up he would likely win. I think AA wanted Werdum to throw more and Werdum wanted AA to go to the ground.

I'd like to see AA vs. CroCop, I think their styles would make an exciting fight.

That was be a damn good fight I think. Vera wouldn't let Andrei pussyfoot around that's for sure. I think it would be a good match to decide the next contender as well.

wow, that's a lot of ring rust to get rid of with no preperation.

I really dont see the rumor being true anyways.

Yeah, when he last fought in the UFC Andre was probably the toughest fight out there for him next to Tim Sylvia; And now hes jumping right back in after almost a year without fighting and taking on what wouldve been his toughest competition before he left. I definitely think Vera can handle it but id like to see him get a warm-up fight or something.

We still haven't seen the best of Arlovski, and I hope he gets the chance and the mentality to show us.

I like Arlovski, but ya i think hes a little past his prime and I really dont think he'll be able to compete with the new talent thats come into the HW division.

    I don't know that. Just my opinion/feeling

    1) Most of his victories in his tear through the (weak) division were extremely fast. We haven't seen a heck of a lot of "old" Arlovski. His loss against Sylvia he plain got caught after he'd already hit Sylvia with one of the most amazing punches. From that point on it wasn't the same pitbull. If he'd finished Sylvia in that fight, we'd be seeing a different Arlovski today and some of the AA v Pride matches people wanted. Easy to say of course.

    2) He's clearly athletically gifted, but needs to be in the right camp

    3) He's still very young

I think these point to the fact that AA still has a lot to offer. It depends on if he's willing and has the heart, because he has all the tools, as attested to by his peers.

Of course this doesn't work for many fighters e.g. Joe Riggs.

I don't think AA is past his prime; he's entering it. But mentally and opportunity-wise, I agree that it's probable the game might have past him by now :(
