Had a question on what she said as it sounded weird.

First off for my weight she said I should only eat 87.7 g of protein a day. I weigh 193 and have a goal of 1850 calories a day to lose weight. Does that sound right to you guys? According to fit day I ate 150 grams today and I didn't eat shit really...

Other than that my goal is to lose 10 lbs in 6-8 weeks, dropping from 16% fat to 14%. I've never been on a diet before so this should be interesting. I'll post before and after pics if it works out.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking.... well I guess I'll just ignore that part of the advice, the rest of it seemed decent enough. :dunno:

Well she got me started in the right direction I think, I'm at least tracking my calories and all that shit now.

I'll just take what she says with a grain of salt.

She's gonna be showing me how to use the machines and weights on my next visit, this should be interesting :hsd:

But it's free so I prob won't dump her just yet. I kinda don't blame her for the protein bit, it might be the gym because it was printed out on this standardized sheet she filled in, it said protein per day = weight / 2.2. Bleh too much conflicting information in all this dieting stuff.

weight / 2.2 is probably okay for someone with a seditary lifestyle... but since you're at the gym that isn't you... anymore at least.

ahh, one of those 1g/KG people.

Personally, I prefer to go by the 1g/LB theory. I'd rather have too much then too little.

Google protein requirements, do some basic reading, then ask her why she recommended that amount.

80 grams of protien is just fine.

If your goal is to lose weight as fast as possible and you dont mind losing just as much muscle as fat. If you wanna be built like lindsey lohan, go ahead and follow your trainers advice.

Otherwise tell her to go back to training 45yr old women and leave the fitness advice to someone with some testosterone in their blood.

I can't imagine eating that little protein.

My 100ish lb gf gets 150-180g/day.

Yeah if you are trying to put on muscle you should at least be getting 1g per 1lb of BW.

And if you are actively working out you can eat between 2702-3088 and lose weight at a decent pace. But if you are trying to lose it faster at 193 eating 2316. Once you get down to your goal of 186 you can lift and maintain your maintain at a intake of 2976 cals. Idk what your trainer was talking about.

That person is a fucking idiot. For strenght/hypertrphy goals you should get at least 1.5-2 grams per Kg of body weight.

.....i'm leanin toward what this guy said.

If I don't get enough protein, my muscles deff don't grow. I need at least a humdred grams (minimal...)and I'm a girl.

Which makes me think...I could prolly kick your instructors ass...

    but thats beside the point.

i would ignore that advice, 80 grams of protein is way to low, 2000 calories with 80 grams of protein leaves you eating what, a ton of carbs,,,,,why would that assist your weight loss goal, i'd eat a higher % of protein in my diet and it looks like most on FN think your trainer is a fool

    I struggle to eat over 100g a day :(

I've cut about 10+ lbs eating about 100g protein/day and increased strength with what appears to be no muscle loss. 215 to 205
