It lights up and even plays 'nature' sounds too...
And the light has some kinds screen that constantly rotates in front of it to make it look like the water is 'moving'...

It amazes me that people give stuff like that as a gift and actually think the person they are giving it to will like it

This may get a little confusing but it actually came from the parents of my wife's sister-in-law. We were thinking of re-gifting it around the family in secret :mamoru:

wow, someone regifted a ayrdsale item for your wedding gift? Sell it to the chinese take out place, they love these things. This the frame chrome metal or "chromed" plastic? maybe keep the frame.

oh wait, give it to the couple whose wedding you just shot. They will love it

if those deer were wolves and there was some lighting going on in the background it would have been a pretty sweet gift.

Here is a contrarian response. The folks who gave you this thing are from a different culture, and their aesthetic choices can sometimes go wildey astray. They probably put some thought into the gift, and it probably cost them more than was paid for other wedding gifts you received from even closer relations.

I'd suggest you write them a nice thankyou letter and encluse a photo of the newlyweds smiling with the gift in the background. There's a pretty good chance they'll never visit you, but if they did and asked whatever happened to their picture... what would you say? Put it back into the box it came in and store it in some remote netherregion of your garage. If they visit, you can have it hanging in their guestroom at a moment's notice. Once they've passed into the great beyond, then you might offer it to someone closer to them as a rememberance.

My wife and I have been married for over 43 years, and we still are saddled with a few of those "Oh...My...God?!!!!!" gifts we got back when paintings on black velvet, and wide lapels were thought oh so fashionable. Who knows, the fashion compass may shift and your grandchildren will take that gift to a future Antiques Roadshow on Mars where such items command hundreds of thousands... especially, new in the box condition.

That's retarded. That's why old people have garage doors they can't close because there are boxes overflowing out the door. If you don't like it get rid of it.

Save it because one day it will be worth thousands? :bowrofl:

I'd take it apart and figure out how to use it as my own lightbox for photos. they sell special paper that for that purpose.

I think most people get over it if you don't like their gift. 43 years later? I mean seriously...:eek3:

After last Christmas I came up with a new plan. Everyone's heard of White Elephant Gift's, we do Black Elephant Gifts. This is where you go get invited over to someones house for lets say, a bbq. You bring along the piece of shit gift you don't want and you place it in their house while they are distracted by other guests without telling. Then the next morning they get to try to figure out how the fuck the ceramic Santa Claus wearing a hula skirt wound up submerged in their toilet.

    There ya go, problem solved.

hopefully, anyone that you've known for 10+ years won't care about one stupid gift they gave you. 43 years of this stuff? have a yard sale and take a vacation with the profit
