I've read numerous threads and it seems that most of the manufacturers making OLL's have similar if not equal quality.

    Was looking at the following:

    Kaiser Defense
    Stag Arms
    CMMG
    Spikes Tactical
    Lewis Machine Tool

Is there a particular reason to pick one over the other? Or are the pretty similar and I should just pick the one with the nicer roll mark :mamoru:

I was actually considering this completed lower as well.

    http://www.riflegear.com/p-574-lmt-defender-lower-with-collapsing-stock-and-standard-trigger.aspx

I heard prices are somewhat stabilizing, am I getting raked over the coals on this? :sadwavey: I'm kind of limited because I'm in California. I prefer a place where I can buy and DROS the lower at the same place, that's why I like Riflegear.

I have a pair of Spikes that went together no problem. a lot of people dislike Spikes because of their price gouging during the shortage, do as you wish on that one.

On the whole, a lower, is a lower, is a lower. They're supposed to be built too the same specs all around, so pick the rollmark you like best.

Pick the one that you like. And since you're in CA, it's going to be rare to find a stripped lower for under $150 locally. You can buy online, but you'll need to pay shipping and the FFL transfer fee.

  4. Ignoring issues such as Spike's attempt to screw AR owners out of their money, you're spot on about simply picking the lower with the rollmark you like. Any of the ones you listed would be fine.

    Fuck that was quick :mamoru:

Thanks for the replies. I've definitely found lowers cheaper, some $30-$50 cheaper. However with shipping and FFL transfer, it would mitigate any the savings from buying online.

Although I like the red markings on the Spikes, I think it's messed up they were purposely price gouging.

I think I'm just going to save myself the trouble and buy the completed LMT lower from Riflegear. I guess I can buy the rest of the stuff (uppers, etc) from someone else.

    if you're going to get a .22lr conversion think about a 10/22.
if not think about a mini 14.

    just saying.

I keep winning certificates for lowers at matches. I'm holding a cert for a calvery arms lower now from the mgm ironman. Unfortunately because of the ffl holding the actual lower it would be infinately easier to sell the cert out outside of California.

If your in So Cal. Ammobros in ceritos www.ammobros.com always has lowers and they are pretty good guys.

Anyone else have an Aero Precision lower? It was all I could find during the shortage and it wasn't too overpriced ($135 before shipping/fees).

All lowers are basically the same.... The main thing i feel is to buy from a company that is at least well known (stag, cmmg, noveske, lmt, etc etc) because if for some unforeseen reason something is fucked up, they will take care of you.

And I have a stealth upper in commiefornia.... now i just gotta figure out a way to get a Larue lower :greddy:
