I applied and paid on December 1, 2008.

the clerk told me that it's usually taking the full 45 days, I thought he was kidding.

Guess when it arrived? Today

BUT, i FINALLY friggin' have it!

Fairfax? They always do that. Fairfax always, ALWAYS waits until the last day, and they did it even back in the 90s. :greddy:

    lucky.

but really, what's the purpose of waiting until the last day? i think the only reason they do is because they don't want you to have it. why else would they wait until the last possible moment to send it? makes me so irritated

MN has had some problems with that too, Sheriffs taking too long on purpose in protest of the shall issue law.
MN pretty much put an end to that with a few kindly worded letters to each individual Sheriff stating funding would be yanked if it happened again.
I don't know what that means, but it hasn't happened nearly as much since.

Here in Illinois we don't have CCW. We do, however, have a Firearm Owner ID card (FOID) which one must have to own, handle or fire a gun. Must have it to even buy or own ammo.
State law says it must be processed within 30 days but there's no provision for if they don't.
I sent in my renewal ap 60 days ago.....no FOID, no reply. The phone number rings twice and goes to a busy signal, emails go unanswered.
I'm going to contact my state rep but they're awfully busy trying our crooked governor.

Stupid question, I suppose, but what good is that? It doesn't mean you can carry concealed in any NATO country, does it?

Because it's the government. They literally do not care about pragmatism. They have 90 days to issue you a license, because the guy who wrote up the procedure estimated it would take 90 days for all the checkbox-checkers to check their checkboxes, and the checkbox-checkers aren't going to rush things because they usually only have that one checkbox to check, and they want to savor it.

i implied that a CZ was better than a glock because it has an NSN and was NATO tested.

Oh. For some reason I thought he meant he hoped the permit had a NATO serial number on it.

    Makes sense now.
