I switched banks from the local credit union to usaa. I like the web bill pay and the pay a day early. I am just having trouble getting my cash into the savings account. Since I am a cheap bastard, I don't want to pay the $10 fee to wire the money. I tried to deposit it into an ATM but it wouldn't let me; I think the amount was too large.

i don't think USAA lets you deposit via ATMs
you have to either mail it in or go to the ups store

    but USAA runs my life
    - checkings
    - savings
    - car insurance
    - credit cards
    - property insurance
    - retirement account
    - investment account
    - bought and negotiated my car through USAA
    - free personal finance adviser

when i'm out of SGLI, i'm going to use USAA for my life insurance and use them to buy my diamond ring and use them to order my honeymoon cruise and my TSP account is going to be rolled into my USAA retirement account

    yeah!

When my Army son got back from deployment he wanted to buy a truck. Even though he was going to pay the majority of the cost in cash, he wanted a loan so he could build up a credit rating (this was his first loan). NOBODY would give him a loan.

He applied to USAA, got the loan, and bought the truck all in the same day.

I don't like not being able to go in and talk to a live body. Bank of America has all these little branches in the grocery stores around here that have late hours every day of the week.

That's the only thing holding me back from moving my accounts to USAA.

Web bill pay, no fees, free checks, .5% money back on purchases through debit (when used as credit) - small amount I know, but has potential to save money over the year.

I added up all of my monthly bills, made an allotment for $100 more than that to cover variance in amounts and pay all of my bills at the first of the month through USAA web bill pay. They will pay electronically if they can, if not, they will send a check on your behalf.

With the exception of deposits why do you need to go to a branch office anyway? the customer service i have gotten from usaa over the phone blows away any other "live" customer service I have gotten at any other bank.

USAA has been by far the best bank for us.

Probalby just the comfort level of being able to talk to someone in person if/when I want to.

When I deploy I'll probably move everything over to USAA, though. :coolugh:

edit: since I'm in the Reserves now I might as well start an automatic deposit of my drill pay to USAA. :dunno: Does USAA have a deal where you get something if you refer me and I open an account?

not that i am aware of.

I can say that anytime i call them they are the nicest people i have talked to and really seem like they care about my issues or comfort. I spent about 1 1/2 hour on the phone with the free finicial rep discussing my future plans and retirement. He made a checklist of points covered and sent them to me in the mail outline various points of interest and ways to resolve them (some with USAA services and some with military services).

They have won me over and if the customer service remains like this i will not have a problem giving them as much business as possible.

P.s. If you call and they do have referral program then pm me, ;)

also right now they are offering a free Global war or Terrorism coin for all service members. I don't think you even have to be a member with them to get it. Let me check and i'll post a link.

BTW Usaa is now an exclusive military only company. Anyone that was non-military member before june 30th is grandfathered in. the only non-military that can join is the dependants of military
