    hmmmmm

i tend to shy away from designs that aren't canon and use parts that are just kind of thrown together from existing ships, then again star trek has been around so long its hard to do something original or different with the ship designs anymore

i dunno, it looks like some custom kitbashed "interdictor fast attack strike carrier escort explorer" thing a guy with a bunch of left over model parts would make

still smaller than a Galaxy though, that i do like :big grin:

what supposed to be the function of/inside the part separated and above the primary hull?

Looks like Weapons or Sensor Pod (similar to the Nebula Class starships).

If I didn't find out it was a fan creation it could easily pass as one of John Eaves designs. I'm not a huge fan of the attached pod though, as it takes away the streamlined profile of the vessel. Something that was done much better on the Miranda, Akira, or Nebula Class.

    How about you?

    :bigthumb: to the Luna-class.

The next ST series should be "Star Trek: Titan".

i agree on all points, i don't like the general shape though, it just looks odd...unbalanced

maybe if the nacelles didn't hang down so far

that bow-on shot looks almost exactly like an akira. but then again, i love the akira design, so i says not bad. they coulda gone for something more original, or an already established class (though i haven't read any titan novels, does it mention luna class?). i'd love to see it as a prometheus class.

I think that the design itself is pretty good but I hate the fact that this is Riker's ship. Riker was my favorite character from TNG and they put him on a piece of shit ship and rehashed the Voyager series for a storyline.

It specifically lists the Luna class in the books with specific abilities for the ship and it quite frankly is nothing more than a science ship. It gets its ass kicked by a Romulan ship that is over a 100 years old.

    Worthless

no 3 warp nacells, no care

forgot the name of the one in the ep where 3 enterprise from 3 periods came to the same spot and did something to do something to close a hole or something
it looked kick-ass and had big guns :bigthumb:

It was from the series finale All Good Things.

That one was pure fanboyism and goes against the Roddenberry's "bible" that Starfleet ships should have paired nacelles. Oh who're we kidding.....a HUGE FRIGGIN cannon below the saucer secton? That's win win.

Yeah they basically chose the design that would appeal to the fanboy-ish section of Trekkies. Sovereign/Akira/Intrepid design for a science ship? Heaven forbid they update the Oberth.

It could be worse...it could look like that miserable abortion of a ship, the Enterprise-J.

    excellent point

good starship design has waned heavily since first contact, excluding the prometheus class
