Before there have been different contract opportunities, but generally Pride and UFC had their own stable of fighters that they had.

Now with Elite XC, it appears they are going to to go after Brandon Vera after his next fight (he has one fight left on his contract). Elite XC is owned by a veteran boxing promoter, so this could be pretty interesting. I have a feeling this company might not fizzle out like the WFA did.

WEC was always in the small leagues

The WFA was supposed to challenge the UFC, but I'm not suprised it failed. Now there is the IFL and Elite XC..and Pride in the US. And maybe Bodog. The IFL says they don't aim to compete with the UFC but they are in each other's market, so :dunno:

that would be good, but that isn't anyone's job to convince traditional MA guys of what is what

also I don't think the UFC getting involved with the WCL is practical or sensible

That would be amazing to watch...hard fight to call though. As for Gomi getting spanked by BJ, I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch between them either.

I guess this is good for the sport, but I don't want to see the top-tier talent spread too thin. If Crocop goes to UFC, but Vera leaves, the already dismal selection of Crocop challengers dwindles further. Fedor will whore himself out fight-by-fight to the highest bidder, fighting circus bouts in any organization that pays enough. Fights that should happen won't, because everyone's fighting for a different organization. There will be different rule sets, too. We'll have to buy 6 PPV events a month (assuming anyone on here actually buys the PPVs).

Elite XC is already ahead of WFA, they have a deal with Showtime. Their first event has some good guys lined up. Renzo Gracie vs Frank Shamrock is one match.

This is also my fear... I already have enough trouble justifying $75-80/month to watch PRIDE & UFC ppv's...

Granted, neither the CropCop signing nor the Fedor/Bodog deal are official yet... It could just be a bunch of hype...

although its not exactly your point i dont think theyre stupid from the perspective of a child to learn discipline and respect from.

They have their place in our world, its just not for self defense.
