I thought I'd try a toy for once so I bought the SO a vib from adameve, specifically a silicone one. She loved it but at the end of play time her labia started swelling quite a bit. She said it was a little painful but stung and she had some cramps. This morning the swelling is gone and the cramps are mild. This ever happen to anyone else? I'm thinking maybe a latex allergy. But the weird thing is this never happened when we had sex with latex condoms. Mind you we haven't had sex with condoms in over 5 years. Does BC cause skin sensitivity to this degree?

I'm pretty sure she'll never use toys again :wtc:

Did you use lube at all?
Were you pretty vigorous with the vibe?

After extensive reading I have learned that many 'silicone' toys are blended with latex

You said its been 5 years since you had sex with condoms. Allergies can develop. And Ive heard that about the latex silicone blend as well.

I would tell her to talk to her dr. It may seem embarrassing, but any kind of not the norm activity down there is doctor fodder.

She could be allergic to the Silicone in the blend, or the blending of the latex and silicone can cause a reaction.

And as RNG has stated, allergies can develop at ANY time, at any age. My StepMom used to be able to shellfish, no issue. Then suddenly, one day she had an allergic reaction to crab. Now she can't even SMELL shellfish without getting sick.

She should probably make and appointment and talk to her doctor if you're sure you weren't playing too rough. Specifically her OB/GYN if she has a regular one.

Silicone tends to be one of the more rare allergies which is why it is used in medical equipment. Double-check the toy for material content. Perhaps try glass/pyrex.

Also true, however, doesn't mean she can't have developed an allergy to it. You can be allergic to ANYTHING. I'm allergic to BOTH Tetracyclin AND Penicilyn (sp?), which I've been told by several doctors is rare. You're usually allergic to one or the other, almost never both, but I am :dunno:

Thanks for all the help everyone. She's completely fine now. I'm gonna have her get an allergy test done in the near future.

I second the notion for glass. My ex loved her glass toys :)

Just get her to use a condom with the toy.

The soft silicone toys have a problem and while they are awesome to play with they have more chances of the woman having a reaction, than say the harder toys. Which sucks if you are allergic to them.

There doesn't seem to be a safe alternative for the softer toys if you are allergic, So it's either condom or nothing.
