A fucking brigade activation ceremony and I have to hold the unit flag :(. Then walk the bitch in at the ball later that night. All I did was walk into the building and say I needed to get in processed when someone walked by to tell me the great news.

How long should I expect to be standing there? The most I've done was a change of command which was all of an hour at attention with our weapons.

im proud, but standing at attention is shitty enough, holding the flag with the streamers tilted the entire time is just gonna suck that much more.

    An hour at the most.

it's pretty tiresome, but it shouldn't take more than an hour (including time spending hoisting the flag, waiting, and then going out there)

you'll need to bend your knees slightly to keep the blood flowing, but try to make it subtle

stop complaining. go do a tour with the honor guard and you'll learn how pathetic you sound when you complain about holding a flag for an hour in what should be an honorable formation.

next to the airfield.. I'm pretty sure it's windy everyday on that patch of the earth lol.

While it is cool to be doing it and not as hard as the honor guard vids ive seen online its still not gonna be the funnest thing I've done in my short career, forgive me for complaining and not saying it's the coolest thing I'll ever get to do and that no part of it will take effort and the VIP ranks watching me aren't gonna effect me at all. sorry crew

as for passing out, id think id have to be put on suicide watch if i let that happen lol. From what the sergeant major/ex drill sergeant told me. Squeeze your butt cheeks and keep your legs slightly bent and ill be alright. And if my flag or the national flag hit the ground ill be miserable for the rest of my life lol

I'm in the color guard, it's not too bad. It sucks standing there at attention, yes, but holding the US flag just feels good.

The first time I raised the flag for colors in the morning I cried, I don't know if it was the harsh wind or my love of the country... maybe a lil bit of both
