This makes the 5th time. I called them pissed off and they told me to try new mags. Of course I need to try something that is going to cost me more $$$. Damn gun was $1000. I'm half tempted to take and trade for my XD-40 SC back, but i'd loose my ass on this gun.
Jamming must be a char of 1911s....I hear at ranges it happens all the time

Have you tried posting in forum.m1911.org?

    What specifically is going on?

No, I have not...I shoot IDPA with it and every single match it jams. I dont think I can rely on it, if I were in a gunfight. What makes it worse is all my friends carry Glocks and gave me shit for buying this thing....When it jams, I never hear the end of it. "Expensive POS" is the common one. 11

What's going on you asked...Well, i'm in the middle of a match, firing away and click. Look down and there is a rd going into place and another one trying to come out the mag into the chamber. I either have to dump the mag and rack it or rack it twice with mag in it and a good rd goes to the ground....so great.....I only have 7&1, now i'm minus one of those.

    Jackpot!

Type III: Failure to extract in conjunction with magazine failure. I don't have a shorter name for this malfunction, but it is frighteningly common. The partially extracted case is dragged through the empty magazine's feed lips, wedging the case firmly in place and damaging the magazine. Clearance requires tools or at least a lengthy application of brute force and profanity. For this malfunction to occur, two factors must be at play together: insufficient extractor tension, and magazine feed lips that are too wide. A very detailed analysis of the magazine component of the problem is available on this thread

    So it is my mags!!!

    Brand new damn gun!

Recently here where I live, the news played a 911 call where a little girl was home alone about 2p. Four guys kicked their door in. She hid in the closet and called 911. They entered the room she was in while on the phone. Chilling call...She goes "please hurry, I dont want them to kill me".
That made me think...With my Kimber...i may not have been able to get 1 shot into each of them before the gun malfunctioned....That alone makes me consider trading..

    how many rounds thru it?

I had an ultra carry and I landed up using a valve lapping compound on the slide which wore all the tolerances looser. My jams declined.. But in the end I sold it because I feltthe XD was more reliable.

So is the extracted case jamming down into the magazine or is it still sitting in the chamber when when a fresh round is stripped off the mag? If its the latter it could be the extractor.

The empty case is gone....I never get a stovepipe. Two new, unshot rds are causing the problem.

That's ok, I wouldn't buy a kimber, wilson, para, etc 1911 if I ever decided to get one anyway.

I'd get an RIA or Taurus :o
