A&P So the 35 1.8 is pretty sexy. I can't even hear it focusing.

:eek3: The focus is so quiet, I can't even hear it. The 50 1.8 has the traditional mechanical noise, but damn.

Havent check pics yet, but will do soon. So far it's a nice lens. Very solid and gotta love the metal mount.

Mine arrives today, followed by the 85 1.4 later this week.

    2 new sexy primes

Sweet. The 85 is supposed to be good too right? I feel my 50 will be neglected with this new 35.

If the 35 1.4 come out like the rumors suggest, I'd be in line to get one! Otherwise, the 20 2.8 is tempting.

I'd guess it'd be pretty decent pricing, since the 35 f/2 isn't exactly 'cheap' for being such a cheap lens. My guess, $700-850

    You're crazy :hs:

    The canon 35mm 1.4 sells for $1250
    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/162614-USA/Canon_2512A002_Wide_Angle_EF_35mm.html

    Canon 50mm 1.4 sells for $400
    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/12140-USA/Canon_2515A003_50mm_f_1_4_USM_Autofocus.html

    Nikon 50mm 1.4 sells for $465
    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/585343-USA/Nikon_2180_AF_S_Nikkor_50mm_f_1_4G.html

    Set up a basic proportion

    (465/400) = (x/1250)
    solve for x
    x=1453

    $1450
That would be my estimate for the nikon equivalent of a 35L

I have high hopes for this 35 1.8

I can't possibly see the upgade being worth $1000, but shit, I'd probably buy it too

    It's badical.

On a side note regarding mechanical noises, the sound the VR on my 18-55 makes when it's engaged is kinda freaky. Do all VR lenses do that?

The only VR lens I've ever used was the 55-200 and it buzzed/hummed when VR was engaged. :eek3:

Weird. It's pretty cool if you press the shutter halfway and jiggle the camera while looking through the viewfinder though :mamoru:

Mine comes tomorrow. I'm thinking about selling my 50mm 1.8D. Not sure if I need both.

If nikon makes a 35mm 1.4 AF-S it will be comparable to the 35L, so yes, it will be FX.

I thought about that, but for $130 i'll keep it. I would hate myself for that rare occasion I needed a little more reach and a 1.8-2.8 aperture.
