I like the tones of # 1 allot . Wish the face was just a tad sharper.

your style is a little odd but that isn't a bad thing. the girl in what looks to be a wedding dress is a little weird, especially for the setting but again, that isn't a bad thing.

    Is the color cast intentional?

yeah the color changes were intentional. just playing around with them etc. I'm still pretty new to all this.

  14. I like them but they don't stand out to me. I can go on any modeling/photography forum and see shots like these all day.

I can respect that opinion. So what type of shots do you think would be better ?

  16. I understand that pics posted in this thread are all done with natural lighting and I really like the lighting in 2 and 3.

Most of the shots I prefer involve the use of strobes. And the look/style I like grabs the viewers attention and slaps it around and makes the viewer look at the image for longer than a few seconds.

    here are some examples

Hey, I really dig your shots. I think the colour cast is what they call "cross-processing", which I guess is the effect you get by developing a certain film in the 'wrong' chemical. Anyways, I'm pretty new to this stuff too so I know how you feel.

As an unrelated question, what's the deal with strobes? What are their advantages over a normal flash, and how would you set them up to get that glossy studio portrait look?

IMO the stuff lowlike is the stuff you can see all day...just boring...

but there is attention to lighting/makeup/hair/set.

  20. sorry, i should be more specific

Strobe can be studio lighting or a camera flash. Strobes give you more flexability (light modifiers/colors/angles/amount of light) and you have control of what your resulting photo will be. Without strobes you are limited to the light produced by the sun and you need extra people to hold reflectors.

I don't agree with F150. The shots he posted are rather ordinary, and yours have a uniqueness to them (probably the tones, although the 2nd one doesn't count as it's pretty average).

  22. :eek3: Shots I posted are ordinary, you must be a have a nice photo gallery. link?

I think he means ordinary in terms of pose/setting/framing...nothing interesting, just like an add for a hair product in maxim or something. Or your av.

    Lighting is completely professional.
