so my FD decided to get some workout equipment. They kept asking me, (chief and officers) what I thought because I'm the only person there who looks like he could even find a gym if he wanted to. I dunno why they fucking asked me, they were dead set on buying 2 bowflexes. I told them honestly, it's better than nothing but it's like rebuilding a motor with a swiss army knife. So now that we just got these things and they spent thousands of dollars finishing off an upstairs room for this "equipment", all these fitness conversations have started. The first thing I overheard was "well I was watching that fightin'.... u somethin' uhhh(he was talking about UFC) and that one guy says he wouldn't use anything except a bowflex".. And then I was talking to a guy about sups and he says I wanna get some of that nitroflexerpumper(I dunno what he said but you get the idea), because ALL the ufc guys use it.

and I thought i was dumb

I feel for you man. I just try to stay out of the fitness discussions at work.

My parents have a bowflex they bought while I was still at home in highschool that has sat in their basement for like 4 years now. They keep trying to give it to me, but I don't even want it at the house.

if/WHEN I build my house I will have a home gym set up. I will have one to complement everything else, ie power rack, DB's and everything I need but other than that hell no. I try to tell them, they'll get bored. Plus, they all think they're gunna get huge on it. the fucking max weight on these is like 210 unless they buy the upgrades.

My parents got the extra 100 lbs. 310 lbs of resistance and I can rep it on the bench 5 or 6 times. I can't even unrack 310 on a real bench. Those things suck so hard. I can't imagine how light that shit feels squatting or pulling (if you can even do them on the bowflex).

these conversations always spark the "used to" comments and also the well known "back in college/high school". Shit son back in the day when I played ball I could bench 800lbs and when I hit people they died because I broke them in half. I could have gone pro right out of high school but I decided to pursue my career in waste management.

My "back in high school" stories always end with the statement "man, I was such a little bitch back then"

it's better than sitting on your ass drinking beer. Other than that, I dunno. I tried so hard to let me find a rack + adjustable bench. They were worried about the safety aspect. jesus, just dont' be a fucking moron. and hell, you can always dump the weight if you're an idiot.

mine too. People look at me completely different from 18-27(present) then they did from 0-17. Although I did have one shining moment in high school when I beat the piss out of "the" bully in front of all his football buddies.

But by far the worst is when a complete fatass tells you that lifting will just fuck your back, make you short and too bulky.

    ugh

everyone knows I own a shipping store, and my favorites are the women who would be considered over weight for a cow that come in to ship back their ab lounge or some such shit. "It didn't work at ALL".... well did you put your cheesy poofs down to use it?
