Because if Arnold ignores it for 30 days it becomes law by default.
calguns.net is all over it
info for us non cal people
i think they are just trying to give CA over to the mexicans
Not much to tell really, its the same bullshit that they have tried to get into law the past couple of years.
they're trying to pass a bill saying that all new firearms sold in CA after 2010 has to have a microstamping feature to the firearm. basically it imprints a microscopic imprint of the firearm's information (serial) via the firing pin onto the casing before its expended.
there are only a million problems with this including:
-criminals picking up their casings
-criminals using a stolen gun in a crime
-rubbing the filin pin with a file for, oh, 2 seconds?
its typical feel-good legislature where the un-educated masses say "hey, that sounds like it will REALLY put a dent into crime!" what they dont think about is the fact that if a criminal steals your gun, the po-po will arrest you
CA would possibly be a lost market for manufacturers that dont want to add some bullshit to their firearms before selling them over here.
barrett voided all repair requests for LEOs when CA banned the .50 BMG
Yeah I'd bet if it passes most manufacturers would just say fuck you and not sell in cali anymore.
well that is the plan... make something too expensive or complicated to implement, and let the gun makers walk away...
honestly how many round would such fine detail on a firing pin hold up? what about replacement or upgraded firing pins, they are pretty common to buy.
thats another example in the long list of reasons on why a child can see flaws in this
If gun manufacturers do the good thing they will stop selling guns in cali, but also refuse to sell to their LEOs due to the lost business. If all the main companies stop, they would get rid of this quick.
Actually they would probably try and pass a law requiring them to sell.
They wouldn't all stop selling to the law enforcement sector, and I'm not going to even say that's a good idea.
They'd be stupid not to equip the police.
LEO's can get off list pistol anyways so it's not like th firing pin law really applies to them.
They will just go through a middle man and stop buying direct.
I know, but they won't all do it. That was also for a .50 rifle... they won't all stop selling to LEO's, especially not handguns.
Just saying. It sure would be a major statement if they did though.
CA never ceases to amaze me.
Same goes for Illinois.
Silly california law makers
So glad I got out of there.
God forbid you go to a state next door and buy a firearm and bring it into CA. And do all current firearms in CA have to be retrofitted? The PRK is a piece of shit.
If signed the law applies only to new guns made in 2010. I don't know the exact start date.
Fuck that...I'd be more concerned about having to pick up my own brass at the range. If I were a criminal I'd just go to the shooting range and pick up a shit ton of expended cartridges in the same caliber then sprinkle them all about the crime scene, where I used a stolen gun at.
Granted they can tell with forensics which casing produced which bullet, but you're gonna send them on a wild goose chase trying to figure out how all of these people are connected, wasting time they could be using to follow real leads.
