    so noisy :noes: (6mp picture)

I got a nikon d40 two weeks ago and started taking lots of pics for some experience. I got a few things down here and there, but one thing I can't get through is how to reduce noise.

This is a picture I took a few minutes ago of one of my guitars. It's lit up by a flourescent light. The only post-op I've done is removed the posters on both sides of the guitar, other then that, the shadows and everything else is untouched.

I think the quality looks fine. But i'm an olympus user so my pics are about as noisy(red:more noisy). If low noise is what you wanted, you should have bought canon.

Why would you take a shot at F/25 & 5 secs? Looks like you had enough light for a lower F/stop and a lot quicker shutter.

As for noise, I hardly see any -- and if you print it, you def. won't see any.

    I agree. Not much noise.

The softness you're mistaking for noise is due to the f25.

Take the same shot at f8.

    compare.

Whatever noise he's complaining about, comes from his 25sec worth of exposure, as is the softness.

why did you take the shot for 1 hour. As far as softness, f/25 is going to be noticeably softer than f/11

Sure it will, depending on the sensor's sensitivity to diffraction.
