so my squats are going up :)

    Today I got:

    135x10
    155x10
    165x8
    175x8
    185x7


    Then I stopped :hsugh: I should have gone more but I was in a rush to do my other sets because I had class :o

    What do you think my max would be? :dunno:

    The problem is that I'm really trying to do them slow... like 3-4 secs down, 3-4 secs up. And when I'm at the bottom or parallel, my knees feel like they are going to explode.

    I don't know how to explain it :o

    today i hit 450x2 :coolugh:

    and yes, do them faster. slowness just puts unnecessary strain on the knees

    How long would you say for one complete rep?

    And I'm probably not going to go for a one or two rep max without a spotter :o I'd be too scurred :noes:

    I don't usually count, i just go into a full squat and right back up. could be 1sec to 3-4 depending on the weight:o

    if you have a power rack, use that for maxing out. if you can't get up, you can just drop it on the safety bars :p

    happens to everyone at some point when they attempt their max. don't really worry about it if you drop it, people might look but nobody gives a shit and atleast you're trying

    I'm at one of those gyms where the majority do frat boy workouts :o I was the only one doing squats today. :hsugh:

    Try doing your regular squats faster but add in a set of pause squats. Its just like what it sounds like. Pick a conservative weight and its like a box squat minus the box. Just get down and stay there for a second or two then explode up. If you don't squat a lil wide it might be hard though. I squat med/wide so I can get down and just sit there for 3-4 seconds and then explode up.

    Like 155 x 4 was the highest I could go. I usually just stuck it out with 115x10 or 125x10 :hsd:

    Honestly, it's not that high. It's average if anything. 5 sets :dunno:

    195x3
    215x3
    225x2

    if ur doing your squats now with any type of form, you should be able to do this

    in austin at the studio or the dojo
    if he's only been at it a couple months his form may not be ready for bigger weight even if muscualarly he could put it up
