For the past month i've hovered around 225 for my squat. For about the past four months i've followed this routine, got my squat up from 170-225 in that period. What should i do :hs:. Should i switch things up, or am I going to just have to grind it through til I can increase in weight? I tried doing 230 today and failed after 2 reps, yet last week i did 225 X 5 no problem.

    My Lower Body workout:

    Tuesday (Lower Body Heavy)

Squat: 5X5 working up to 5RM
Deadlift: 5X5 working up to 5RM
Leg Press: 3 sets X 8 reps with same weight
Standing Calf Raises: 3X8 with same weight

    Friday (Lower body volume)

    Lunges: 3X8 with same weight
    SLDL: 3X8 with same weight
Hamstring Curl: 3X8 with same weight
Seated Calf Raises: 3X8 with same weight

Maybe the 2 plates are a mental block? I got stuck at 225 for a month also.

I've been stuck on a few lifts for a couple weeks now. It's time to take a week off.

Do you just front-squat the same weight you would normally squat on that day?

normally it's a ligher 4x8 back squat, but i 5x5 front squat....what i can 5x5 front squat. i don't think there's any kind of a correlation between the weights of the two - check my training log if you're curious :dunno:

front squat weight should be less than you can back squat

Right, but squatting on day 2 of a typical Starr 5x5 routine is a pretty light day. I was wondering how those numbers would translate into being used for front squatting.

    answer these questions... honestly

    1) Are you eating enough?

    2) Are you getting enough sleep?

    3) Are you over training?

    4) When in your routine do you attempt squats, at the beginning or at the end?

All my other lifts keep going up. And i'm gaining 0.5 lbs per week, which is what I want to do.

Weird. When I hit 225 that actually enabled me to be able to do more instead of act as a mental block.

I felt like I just ran right through it.

Benching was a whole different story, though. :o

Try 4x8 for 2 weeks and see how it goes.

put it on the "shelf" part of your back.
