Has arthirtis at a young age (onyl 17) and today told me im the reason for all her breakdowns and not feeling well. Some days she will be fine and other days really sore, today she blew up at me said she doesnt want to talk to me or for me to come near her.

i try to be a good big brother and yesterday we were honestly fine and other then yelling at each other time to time (what brother/sister dont) we havent got into a fight or anything. she came home today and i was watching tv in her room and she told me to get out. where i jokingly said i was keeping ur pillows warm dont be a brat.

She started crying at the dinner table saying everything hurt and she hated her life. I went downstairs and she texted me im the reason for everything. Later on she txted me saying lucky im old, because by the time shes my age she could be in awheel chair.

now hearing all this made me feel like shit and i know i dont deserve it but im not gonna go run to anybody i know to talk about it.. and dont know what to do, lately seems like everythings fallin apart and ive been turning to alcohol/drinking alot more then i use to

This is the time for you to step up and be a GOOD big brother. You know what kind of shit she's going through, try to not get her riled up man, it's that simple. Yes, brothers and sisters who are close will fight, it's inevitable. But instead of calling her a brat for telling you to get out of your room just leave and shut your mouth.

17 year old girls don't really love coming home to rest to find their pesky brother lying in their bed watching tv, she needs privacy too.

Having arthritis at a young age does suck I'll tell you that much. I have it in both my knees and both my ankles and the possibility of needing a cane to walk by the time I'm 25 is definitely a frightening thought but I think she's being a bit of a bitch about it. To be fair to her, though, everybody has shitty days and maybe she was just feeling like shit and she took it out on the first person she bumped into which would be you in which case it's nothing personal.

    This.

Also, pain can contort peoples' minds even to the point where their moods and behaviours aren't even like the person you know. It's incredibly difficult to deal with someone who is in pain. The best thing to do is be as calm as possible, bite your tongue, and help the person in pain when they need it. If you want to be a good brother, you should be there for her and be accommodating.

Take some space for yourself too. Someone who is irritable with probably tire you out very quickly.

that is tough. my gf has juvenile RA although she's had it long before I met her.

I don't know what's harder on her, the actual pain or the medication she takes to treat it

your sister has a problem.....how did you make it your problem?

try being a bit more understanding for your sister's situation, and maybe throw in a little "the world doesn't revolve around you" while you're at it.

Would you say, based on your experience that your sister is suffering progressive - yet waxing and waning symptoms of a psychiatric nature as well? What are some other issues she complains about physically and emotionally? Irritability, Mood swings, personality changes, Sleep? Memory? Depression? I'm not a doctor, I'm just curious.

Juvenile Arthritis, and Rheumatoid Arthritis in general is commonly diagnosed without a full comprehensive evaluation -- meaning, the underlying cause is overlooked.

Anyone is welcome to PM me for more information.
