We were out looking at some lens rentals because she wants me to take some headshots of her and I wanted to try something better than my kit lens. While were were doing this, it occurs to her she works at a place that sells tv & film (video) cameras and accessories. They don't sell still photography stuff, but she does get discounts on products from the companies they buy from, with Canon being one of them. One of the lenses we were looking at was the EF 17-300mm IS and I happened to like the feel of it. We were at a store and the cost was ~$650 there (cheaper online I know) and she mentioned her cost on something like that would be probably in the $400 range. Can anyone recommend any other lenses that I should have her check out price wise? I'm looking to upgrade my kit lens and the 2 things I enjoy taking photos of the most are scenery and macro's.
